HALLOWEEN SALE REMINDER
There’s still a few days left to take advantage of our Halloween sale!
A new name for John MacLeod’s B-movie reviews, submitted for your approval. (Seriously, let us know what ya think…)
All Hallows Eve 2 (2015)
Horror buffs will already be aware that the first All Hallows Eve was where the love-him-or-hate-him character of Art The Clown debuted before launching the Terrifier series. Alas, if you were hoping to see his antics in this sequel…sorry, no clown-y goodness. But that doesn’t mean we can’t still have some fun!
As with the previous installment, the anthology centers on a mysterious videotape that’s dropped off at someone’s doorstep, this time by a creeper in a pumpkin mask. I think my favorite line from this flick addresses what they must have known horror dorks like me would be thinking: would this live-laugh-love, wine-sipping protagonist even have a VCR to play this thing?
“Are you kidding? Of COURSE I have a VCR. You know how much better Texas Chainsaw Massacre looks on VHS than Blu Ray?”
Touché.
So, how does the rest of the anthology stack up? I actually had fun watching this one, which may be more due to how much I l-o-v-e Halloween than anything else. But with a tight 90-minute runtime and eight stories (nine if you count the frame story), even if you might not like a particular story…just wait a couple minutes. (Seriously, some are pretty short.) The tales range from your average pumpkin-carving-gone-wrong fare to trick-or-treating in an apocalyptic landscape to father and son bonding over a nice ritual sacrifice. Will this make your annual Halloween viewing list? Probably not, but it’s certainly worth one time through if you’re a fan of old-school practical FX and B-movie shlock.
